My pregnant wife and I were sat in the park when we discussed the idea of getting some thai cuisine. I had passed this restaurant on my bicycle on several occasions and so we decided to go there.The interior of the restaurant is small, ornate and quite charming. The staff were friendly and we ordered some spicy seafood soup (my pregnant wife) and a red chicken curry (me). The food was, frankly, delicious. Spicy and flavourful. Why, then, not 5 stars I hear you ask? The simple answer is that the portion sizes were slightly too small. For the price, we expected more rice and to be left full (especially as my wife is eating for two!!)We had a lovely time though. The food was high quality and we will certainly be returning to try out the rest of the menu!

The food here ranges from very solid to unbelievably delicious. The Tom Ka Khai soup in particular is a bowl of absolute lusciousness and will make you fall in love with Thai food all over again. Chicken satay are a little more delicious than average. One of the house "speciality" dishes, wild boar with red curry, was very good, and chock full of veggies, although my hubs found the boar itself a little tough. On another visit we tried green curry chicken as a comparison, and it had far fewer veggies and, perhaps as a result, not as complex or deep a flavor as the red curry boar. Spicy beef salad was a bit different that I am accustomed to, being made with ground beef rather than sliced, but the flavor was good, if a tiny bit too spicy for me. Tell them your spice level, because they work hard to then customize to you. The kitchen is right up and front and you can see, hear and smell all the cooking – a wonderful appetizer! The ladies running the kitchen could not be sweeter or more impressive with their works, and the server is also very friendly and remembered us after our first visit. This is *just* the kind of place I wish I had in my neighborhood, and would come here every week or two if I did. Stop by and enjoy.

Do not get the Thai tea here. I watched them literally pour 1/4 black oishi tea from a bottle and called it thai tea. What an up charge for just store bought tea… Then I asked to order a fried egg and the waiter told me it would cost 2.50 and the cooks didn't have time to make the fried egg…

The pad thai tasted good but was disappointed and felt deceived on their version of "Thai tea".

Tasty little place for Thai food. This place is super tiny. Maybe 10ish tables and few of them Abe to accommodate large parties unless you get lucky. So, (especially) if you have more than 4 people and/or definitely want to get a table, call ahead for a reservation. The menu was larger than expected but tasty even though the dishes I was used to were prepared differently than I am used to.

Ik ben helaas nog nooit in Thailand geweest! Dus ik heb jammer genoeg nog geen kennis mogen maken met de 'echte' Thaise culinaire hoogstandjes! Conclusie: Ik zal het moeten doen met de menig Thaise eettentjes hier in Amsterdam. Gelukkig heb ik er nu een gevonden die ik jullie absoluut niet wil onthouden. Thai Deum op de Ceintuurbaan!

Een restaurantje waar je eerder voorbij loopt omdat het er niet heel aanlokkelijk uitziet. Bij Thai Deum moet je de uitspraak 'less is more' in de oren knopen. Want wat ze niet waarmaken met betrekking tot de ambiance, doen ze absoluut wel met betrekking tot het eten. Als je een ultiem fan bent van de Thaise keuken dan zal je een avond Thai Deum moeten inplannen. Ben je niet in de stemming om je tussen de mensen te begeven, kan je ook afhalen!!
De keuken van Thai Deum is open dus je kan fijn gluren om te kijken hoe zei jouw eten bereiden. De samenwerking van de dames en heren is leuk om te zien. Als de bediening even bezig is met de drankjes, brengt de chef het culinaire hapje persoonlijk naar je tafel. Thai Deum heeft een uitgebreide menukaart. Vaak blijf ik trouw aan mijn favorieten gerechten en daar ben ik dan ook altijd over te spreken.

Mensen dit is een top Thai! Gewoon doen!

I lived in Thailand for four years and this is the only place I can justify spending western prices on Thai dishes. I think the food is delicious and authentic. An absolute gem in my mind.

The absolute _Best_Thai_ in Amsterdam!

I have been to many thai restaurants in amsterdam, and this is the one i keep coming back to.
The staff is very ! friendly, the atmosphere is excellent. The open kitchen is on the left when u enter the restaurant. The ladies in the kitchen work very hard, and the food they produce is just top notch.
You can reserve a table (dont forget, as it is very busy most of the times!) or order food to take home. No delivery unfortunately.
Please do go to this Thai restaurant if you love Thai food, their tom Kha Khai is yummmmie!!

Teeny tiny portions, very expensive. This place is 1 block from my old home. It was always disappointing knowing that the local Thai place wasn't worth going to

Geen idee wat er aan de hand is. We hebben hier vaker heerlijk eten afgehaald, maar de laatste keer waren de gerechten flets en de ingrediënten – rijst en groenten – duidelijk niet vers. Toch 2 sterren vanwege eerdere kwaliteit.

We went here during the week and it wasn't real busy, only about half the tables were occupied. We ordered appetizers, soup and a main, and the timing on the dishes was perfect. The soups I thought were spicier then the 1 star heating rating, while the mains were less spicy then the menu lead you to believe, but despite this all the food was delicious. The service was a bit frantic as the waitress also worked the kitchen, but still friendly and helpful. Would definitly go back.

My friend and I were starving and really glad we found this place not too far from where we stayed. It was just opening time and they were quite busy. I took that as a good sign. We did have to wait a bit, as they had many orders for pick up. When our food finally came we were pleased. It was delicious. If I am back in the area, I will definitely stop by here again!

Food tasted ok, although very small potions for that price. What we were very borher about was that we were waiting more that 1 hour for the food and we kept seeing delivery orders going out from our table. So in the hours we were waiting for the food more than 10 orders went out to be delivered.. staff is friendly but not coming back definetly.

Came here on the recommendation of other yelpers. Can't say that my experience was as good as theirs. Staff were friendly enough but we found the food way over seasoned with salt and pepper. I was not expecting the use of vermicelli for pad noodle dishes. The batter to fish ratio was way too high and could hardly taste the fish.

This difference in experience may be due to local tastes?

Horrible. Portions are a joke for the expensive price you put and the food is no good. Worst part is, when you give feedback the chef gets angry and screams at you. Such a terrible place, should be shut down!

Normally good food, however, the has been getting service particularly awful. They take too many takeout orders and accept too many people walking in and staff is so reduced that wait times are extended to over an hour. Food was not as great as was the case before because they were so rushed- they're just throwing the ingredients together. Never again. Sorry guys you lost us.

Excellent Thai food

Voor €40,- aan Thais eten gehaald bij deze tent. Eerste en laatste keer! Groente is zo groot en rauw, KrabPauw zou ik besteld hebben. Ik krijg toaal wat anders. Komt niet eens in de buurt. Ananas in de currie, echt not done ook!

Best, most authentic Thai I have had in Amsterdam so far. Easy for a vegetarian. Everything I have had has tons of flavor. Sometimes it is more sweet or spicy than other times but I just specify and it's perfect. The ladies who cook are all very sweet. As with many places in Amsterdam, it can take what feels like forever to get your food but it's worth the wait.

I’ve come here 3 separate times on 3 separate trips. Every time fantastic.

Good authentic Thai food. We had the tom yam goong and pork green curry, which were nice. The restaurant is a little understaffed though. Takes a bit of time to put your order.

I love it. My friend had mixed opinions. It was too spicy for her but many things are.
It' a small place so it smells great and really works up your appetite. The kitchen it right up front. It's clean and fun to watch the cooks at work.
I've tried a couple of the vegetarian dishes and always enjoyed them.
I've always liked the coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell but the last time we ordered it looked old and freezer burned like it had been sitting in the back of fridge for months. When we pointed it out they were quite nice, and apologized saying it was the last one but didn't charge us for it.

My favorite thai resturant in Amsterdam. Their fried rice is the best in town , it’s exactly like in Thailand even better than some resturant in Thailand i could say ! (Im thai so i know it 😂) Highly recommend to visit and tried thier food , the chefs are really friendly and polite. You won’t regret going there for sure, i garantee it:)

Het eten (Pad Thai) was heerlijk. De sfeer is is niet meer helemaal van nu, maar ik hou er wel van…. Je waant je weer even in Thailand….

Conflicted on how to rate this place… Is it good Thai food? 3 stars. Is it good food? Maybe 4 stars. I got the chicken and shrimp rolls to start and then the chicken pad Thai. The rolls – they come out right when they are ready, so wait for them to cool a bit. The rolls were good. The sweet chili dipping sauce was on the bland side and very one dimensional (basically just sweet). The pad Thai was just meh. First they don't use the right noodles. Second it was on the saltier side and once again, one dimensional flavor. I was missing the subtle undertone flavors that make pad Thai great. Not sure if it had chopped peanuts or bean sprouts, if it did, it was not noticeable. At first I thought maybe my Americanized palette was used to Americanized Thai food. But then I thought of my trip to Thailand – food in Thailand has even more fuller flavors. Maybe I was spoiled living in California all my life and need to adjust to Amsterdam.

Also, I asked for hot sauce and they gave me this salty liquid with peppers. It was good but wanted something more like sambal or sriracha, but my fault. I should have asked if they had other hot sauces. The hot sauce made it better, but also saltier.

My favorite Thai in Amsterdam! Delicious food and very kind and fast service. Great range of options, varying from chicken with ginger and mushrooms to deer or wild boar to vegetarian dishes. All served with a genuine Thai smile!

It’s the Thai restaurant I know for many years now (more than 20?), and it’s atill one of the best in Amsterdam. The dishes taste different and nuanced and watching the same people cook with so much gusto really moves me. An all-time classic. Het is het Thaise restaurant dat ik het langste ken (meer dan 20 jaar?) en het blijft één van de beste restaurants in Amsterdam. De gerechten smaken uniek en onderscheidend en zien dat dezelfde mensen met nog steeds zoveel verve staan te koken, doet me echt iets. Een oprechte klassieker.

Heerlijk en beetje bijzonder gegeten (eend en phad Thai). Supervriendelijk personeel. Was lang niet hier geweest en heb daar spijt van!

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night and it was some of the best Thai food we have ever had. What we ordered: Tom Kha soup (they made it veggie for us), Shrimp Salad, Pad Thai Veggie and Plaa Pad Namprik-Phauw (Fish with curry sauce, paprika and onion). It was all really delicious and we couldn't stop saying how good it was throughout the meal. We requested it spicy and they made it with the perfect amount of heat. The waiter also brought us some chili oil (didn't need the oil but it was a great flavor) just in case we needed to add more. He also told us that if it was already too spicy for us to let him know and they would make it again for us (appreciated but not needed). All of the food was full of flavor and not oily. We will definitely be heading back here for more!

This has been our favorite Thai in Holland for about a decade now. The one dish you have to try – as we’ve found it to be one of the best ever – is Pad Thai: thin noodles, own recipe for fish sauce, spicy yet super flavorful, not oily but “dry” yet stir fried. When you check other reviewers you’ll see the Pad Thai mentioned often. That’s for a reason.Super nice & sweet people, great service, and very hard working. Love them!

Couldn’t have gotten better food even in Thailand, we had a 5 course meal, and everything was truly authentic.

Friendly staff, took us without a reservation at peak dinner hours on a Saturday night. Unfortunately the service is incredibly slow- you can see into the kitchen so you'll notice they have a ridiculous number of take out orders. That's all fine but that plus the lack of staff (one waiter for the entire restaurant from 6:30-8pm!) makes it way too slow. 5-10 mins for a menu, 20 mins to take our order another 30-40 mins for food to come out. Then the food was ok, not mind blowing at all. Under spiced. Saw food come out piping hot- our red curry did but the spring rolls were lukewarm. The latter was better than the former though. Friendly staff but I wouldn't come back.

Heerlijke maaltijden voor een goeie prijs. In mijn ogen het beste thaise restaurant in Amsterdam. Voor een ieder die geen zin heeft om te koken een top uitkomst om of te halen of snel een hapje te gaan eten.

Been back every year at IBC time since being introduced to this resturant.
Food is incredibly fresh and flavorful and basically cooked in front of you or at least in plain site. Its not far from the Okura where my company stays every year and I always "sneak" away for some of it.

This visit I had Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, and Chicken Fried Rice- I packed and left with approx 50% of what I was served boxed up, and it made for a great late nite meal at the hotel.

The Pad Thai was superb, crunchy veggies, fresh onion, and egg with the right amount of meat, the noodles had justest right amount of firmness. Fantastic.

Rice- Same, superb. Spring rolls, excellent.

The portions are generous, (and Im an American) and I've never left hungry.

If you are in Amsterdam its worth the walk, ride, or cab to try it.
